Shriya commands `50 lakh pay?
Contrary to the notion that actresses have to cut their remuneration after marriage, glam diva Shriya Saran has reportedly pocketed Rs 50 lakh for her author-backed role in a newly-launched film. “Being a female-centric film, Shriya demanded Rs 50 lakh and cinematographer-turned producer Gnana Shekar didn’t bat an eyelid and agreed to pay the fancy amount,” says an industry source and adds “In fact, she has begun shooting for the much-hyped film which also stars Niharika Konidella in a key role, in a specially erected middle-class house set in Annapoorna Studios.
Shriya was in good spirits and showcased her acting talent, since she is doing a non-glamourous role after a gap,” The cinematographer who cranked camera for blockbusters like ‘Gautamiputra Satakarni’ and ‘Kanche’ has signed debutant director Sujana for his maiden production with Ramesh Karutoori and Kali Productions. “Krish has been visiting the set once-in-while to encourage his erstwhile assistant Sujana,” the source concludes.
The women-centric film also marks the comeback of music maestro Illayaraja to T-town. Despite being her first film after marriage with her Russian beau-turned hubby, Shriya Saran has slipped into the role with consummate ease. Perhaps, the actress of ‘Tagore’, ‘Santhosham’ and ‘Chatrapathi’ is chalking out a new course to stay ahead of other 30-plus divas in the industry. Who said marriage stems the career of actresses? Think again.
