Akhil’s film to get `10 cr refund?
Do you know why Telugu film makers are rushing to London to shoot their big ticket films these days. Here is the secret. To boost tourism footfalls to their country, the London Tourism Department has been refunding 50% of the budget incurred by producers spent for shooting in and around London.
“Akhil’s film will also get a refund of Rs 10 crore refund from London Tourism Department, since director Venkat Atluri’s youthful romantic entertainer is being extensively shot in and around London. Leading producer Bogavalli Prasad would be spending more than Rs 20 crore for the shooting part and will submit bills to the officials concerned and would get reimbursement of almost half-the-amount spent,” says an industry source.
No prizes for guessing as to when 14 Reels Entertainment spent lavishly for Mahesh Babu’s ‘1 Nenokkadine’ since they later got a refund of Rs 14 crore from the London Tourism Department. Similarly, Bogavalli Prasad also made his big ticket film ‘Nannaku Prematho’ and reportedly pocketed more than Rs 16 crore as reimbursement since Jr NTR family drama was entirely shot in the picturesque locales in London. With such sops, Telugu filmmakers will line up for visas since they can recover a major chunk of their investment even before the release of the film. Of course, the script should enable filmmakers to shoot in London. Otherwise, it could go awry, the source concludes.
