Rashmika honing cricketing skills?

Although the limelight is now on teen sensation Vijay Devarkonda for his upcoming film ‘Dear Comrade’, Rashmika Mandanna is reportedly playing a cricketer in the film and bound to steal the thunder once the film gets closer to release. “Rashmika will be essaying the role of a cricketer in the much-hyped film and is bound to attract big attention. 

Right now, she is undergoing practice sessions to hone her cricketing skills since she wants to breathe life into the role of a spirited sportsgirl, leaving no stone unturned,” says an industry source. The film is being directed by Bharat Kamma and bankrolled by the prestigious banner Mythri Movie Makers. Actually, the model-turned-actor made her debut in Kannada with blockbuster ‘Kirik Party’ and became a sought-after-actress. She moved to Telugu and scored a hit with her maiden film ‘Chalo’ and is also receiving good response for her upcoming film ‘Geeta Govindam’. 

However, she is bound to go a few notches up with her role of an aspiring cricketer. “She has mostly done bubbly and lover girl roles, but this film will give her career a new impetus and she is bound to match strides with Vijay Devarakonda, who is essaying an author-backed role,” the source adds. Usually, T-town filmmakers confine heroines to glam prop roles, but Bharat Kamma seems to be an exception of sorts.
