Rakul working for half-pay in B-town
If you thought glam diva Rakul Preet Singh is drawing big pay in B-town, think again. According to a Bollywood director, actresses from the South are almost paid ‘peanuts’ by B-town producers because southies show a lot of interest to expand their pan-India appeal. After Ileana, Kajal and Trisha, now, it is the turn of Rakul Preet Singh to rush to B-town with ‘Aiyaarey’ and share screen space with Ajay Devgn in another big film.
“Rakul should be drawing less than half of her T-town remuneration. For instance, if Rakul is drawing Rs 1 crore plus for a Telugu film, B-town producers would be paying her Rs 40 to 45 lakh per film, which is surely peanuts considering her popularity and demand in Telugu and Tamil movies,” says the director and adds, “These actresses believe that they can compensate their loss in remuneration by signing national brand endorsements, but it doesn’t work that way.
May be, if Rakul delivers an earth-shattering blockbuster, she can earn some money through brand promotions, otherwise, her efforts could go waste,” he concludes. Earlier, actresses like Hansika, Bhumika, Rai Laxmi and Priya Anand worked for low-pay, but returned to their comfort zones unwilling to give up their deserving remuneration, he concludes.
