2003-released 'Saamy' starring Chiaan Vikram became the biggest blockbuster in Kollywood. The lead actor has reunited with the film director Hari for the sequel of it titled as 'Saamy Square' aka 'Saamy 2'. Trisha Krishnan who played the female lead in the first part got replaced with Keerthy Suresh in Saamy 2.

Shibu Thameens under the production banner of Thameens Films bankrolled this project. Rockstar Devi Sri Prasad scored the music for this flick. As the movie is a much-anticipated sequel of a blockbuster film, the expectations are sky high on this flick. Let's see how far the film succeeded in reaching the expectations.

Story:
In the prequel of 'Saami Square',  a sincere and foul-mouthed DCP Aarusaamy (Vikram) joins with the most influential thug in the state, Perumal Pichai (Kota Srinivasa Rao) only to protect Tirunelveli away from the law and order issues.

However, in the end, Aarusaamy kills him. Now, as a continuation, the son of Perumal Pichai (Bobby Simha) with the plan of taking revenge locks the horns with Parasurama Swamy. Who won? How did he protect himself and what happens, in the end, forms the crux of the story.

Performances:
Needless to say, Chiaan Vikram will be the major highlight of the film. His performance is topnotch and impresses the audience. His never-ending energy has kept the audience engaged. Keerthi Suresh looked beautiful in the movie. Her expressions will definitely get the brownie points.

Bobby Simha played the baddie in the film. His powerful character also makes the story more gripping and Bobby Simha has justified his role. Aishwarya Rajesh, Sanjeev, Sudha Chandran, Ramesh Khanna, Kota Srinivasa Rao also gave their best performances. The rest of the cast members also made their presence felt.

Technical Aspects:
Despite having a normal story, Vikram's appearance will be the mainstay of the film. His macho appeal and Hari's exceptional taking are the major driving factors of the film. Keeping the story aside, the screenplay is engaging which is the plus point for the film.

The production values by Shibu Thameens are lavish. Cinematography by Priyan and Venkatesh Anguraj is excellent. Shashank Vennelakanti penned the Telugu dialogues. His powerful dialogues and punch lines are quite impressive. Editing by TS Jay is clean and neat. Devi Sri Prasad's music is a major asset for the film. Overall, the technical team has given its best.

Verdict:
The first half of the movie starts with a quick recap of the original Saamy where Aishwarya Rajesh has replaced Trisha in the current film. The film can be called as a proper sequel with Vikram showing his mass image at the right point of time in his career. The interval block of the movie is the major highlight in the film as it sets the block ready for the second half.

The movie is mostly a one-man show of Chiyaan Vikram. Bobby Simha impressed as a tough antagonist in the film. The film creates the nostalgic feeling for the Tamil audiences but might not work well for the Telugu audiences.
