Village Rockstars surpasses Raazi, Padmaavat to get nominated to Oscars
Surpassing the commercial films like Raazi and Padmaavat, an Assamese film Village Rockstars has been nominated for Oscars 2019 under Best Foreign Language Film category.
An official announcement was made today by the Film Federation of India in a press conference.
The selection committee headed by Karnataka filmmaker SV Rajendra Babu said that they used to watch five films a day and would the discuss the story narration, screenplay before shortlisting the movies.
Village Rockstars which was directed by Rima Das narrates the story of a girl who grows up in poverty and fulfilling her dream of forming a rock band and owning a guitar.
Earlier, movies like Mother India, Salaam Bombay and Lagaan were nominated for Oscars.
