Budget limit for Akhil’s Dr Majnu?
According to an industry source, the budget for new-age actor Akhil’s upcoming film ‘Dr Majnu’ has been reportedly restricted to Rs 20 crore. Ace producer Bogavalli Prasad has reportedly asked his director Venkat Atluri to wrap up the trendy love story within a specified budget, rather than going overboard. “Even though, the big budget breezy romantic entertainer is being shot in London and other exotic locales, the director is doing it within the stipulated budget,” adds the source.
The ‘Tholi Prema’ director agreed to do the project since he knew that he could wrap up the film as per demands of the producer without compromising on quality. “A lot of planning and meticulous execution is keeping the budget under check,” the source points out. Actually, producer Sudhakar Reddy has spent more than Rs 40 crore for Akhil’s maiden film.
“Akhil and then Nagarjuna splurged more than Rs 47 crore for his other film ‘Hello’. It seems that even Akhil’s dad Nagarjuna is in agreement with the producer to restrict the budget of Akhil’s third film, to avoid unnecessary risk in business. “Akhil is eagerly looking to score a blockbuster with a perfect love story that suits his look and image and this film has enough potential,” the source concludes.
