Vijay’s Sarkar bought for Rs 7.5 crore?
No doubt, the stocks of Tamil star Vijay are soaring in T-town. For the first time, the Telugu dubbing rights of his upcoming political thriller ‘Sarkar’ has been bought for Rs 7.5 crore by producer Ashok Vallabhaneni, who just released the tasteful film ‘Nawab’.
Even though Vijay was ruling the roost in Tamil Nadu, he couldn’t really expand his base in the two Telugu states. However, Vijay broke the jinx with commercial potboiler ‘Adirindi’(Mersal) which managed to break-even in the Tollywood box office. “Undeniably, Rs 7.5 crore is the highest price ever paid for Vijay’s Telugu dubbing rights in recent times,” says a source from Chennai, who adds, “Vijay is truly expanding his base in the two Telugu states since his films are action-centric mass entertainers and bound to attract masses and the youth,” the source adds.
Also, it is being directed by A R Murugadoss who is also equally popular among the Telugu viewers with his films like ‘Ghajini’ and ‘Stalin.’ “Vijay and Murugadoss are a heady combination and are on the verge of a hat-trick after blockbusters like ‘Kaththi’ and ‘Thupaki’. This is another much-awaited movie even among the Telugu viewers,” says Ashok Vallabhaneni, who is now dubbing big-ticket Tamil films in Telugu.
According to reports, Tamil star Vijay will be playing a Chief Minister in the big budget extravaganza and bound to enthrall his fans who are expecting him to step into politics in real life too, riding on his immense fan following. “ ‘Sarkar’ is an action thriller while ace composer A R Rahman is belting out chartbusters,” adds Ashok, who claims that the film will be releasing on November 7.
