4-hour movie N.T.R in two parts?

Yesteryear Telugu and Hindi films like ‘Dana Veera Sura Karna’ and ‘Mera Naam Joker’ respectively ran for more than four hours, but subsequently, the duration of mainstream movies was restricted to 2 1/2 to three hours in the last two decades. Realising that the new-age audience have no patience to sit through a 4-hour-plus movie, makers of the ‘N.T.R.’ biopic have tactfully resolved to release the film in two parts- ‘NTR Kathanayakudu’ and ‘NTR Mahanayakudu’ on January 9 and January 24 respectively.

“With duration of the film getting longer, the makers have tactfully planned to release the pre-interval portion(which shows the rise of the son of a farmer into a superstar) and post-interval portion (a  novice in politics rising to become the head of the state) with a 2-hour duration each but it is not a sequel as reported in some sections of the media,” says a source, close to the unit.  Elaborating further, the source adds, “NTR is one of the few actors in Indian cinema to have tasted success in varied genres-social, mythological, folklore, comedies and historical films.

Similarly, as a politician, he created a record of sorts by becoming the Chief Minister of united Andhra Pradesh after just nine  months of forming a new party.  Later, when he was dethroned, he mustered the support of his MLAs and anti-Congress forces across the nation and was forced to be re-instated as the Chief Minister by the then Governor S D Sharma which no Chief Minister could achieve in Independent India to strike a proper balance between his illustrious film and political careers,” the source adds.
