Actress Yami Gautam has been experimenting with roles lately, she played a blind girl in Kaabil, a lawyer in Batti Gul Meter Chalu and now she is all set to turn an intense army intelligence officer in forthcoming URI – The Surgical Strike.
The first look of Yami Gautam from war-action drama URI is out and the actress will be seen in a new avatar, playing the role of an Intelligence officer in the highly anticipated film URI: The Surgical Strike.
The film is a military drama based on real-life incident on Indian Army's surgical strikes across LOC. Vicky Kaushal and Yami will be seen sharing screen space in leading roles.
Directed and written by Aditya Dhar, the film features Yami in a physically intense role for which she’s also trained in mixed martial arts. All those wondering about Yami's new look with short hair; it’s for the film only. The director, the stylist and the actress decided to experiment and give her character a fuss-free look.
The film is produced by Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP, the film is based on India Army’s surgical strike on terror launch pads across Line of Control (LoC). The teaser of the film was released one day before the second anniversary of the strike conducted by India on September 29, 2016.
The strike was a response to Uri attack of September 18, 2016 where 19 Indian soldiers were killed in an early morning attack by Pakistani terrorists at the 12 Infantry Brigade headquarters in Uri. In response, the Indian Army’s Special Forces carried out “surgical strikes” on terror launch pads across Line of Control (LoC).
The film also stars Paresh Rawal, Kirti Kulhari and Mohit Raina in lead roles. It is set for a theatrical release on 11 January, 2019.
