Update: 2018-12-06 05:30 IST

Ace actor Kamal Haasan claimed that his upcoming film ‘Bharateeyudu 2’(Indian 2 in Tamil) with director Shankar could be his last film as he has to focus on his political career. The 63-year-old actor hinted about bidding adieu to acting on Tuesday, while talking to the media in Chennai. “Kamal will be quitting films to give a shape and guidance to his newly-formed political party ‘Makkal Needhi Maiam’ and drawing plans to contest the parliamentary elections in 2019, ” says a source from Chennai.  Interestingly, Kamal would take up cudgels against the corrupt in the sequel to ‘Bharateeyudu’ and wants to carry the larger-than-life image into the political arena.

“It may be a coincidence or otherwise, but his fight against corrupt ways will come in handy in his new endeavour,” the source adds. Nonetheless, the Telugu audience will be missing Kamal Haasan who carved a niche for himself in T-town with hits ‘Sommokadidhi -Sokokadidhi’, ‘Maro Charithra,’ ‘Aakali Rajyam’ and ‘Pushpaka Vimanam’ and his films with K Vishwanath like ‘Sagara Sangamam’ and ‘Swathi Muthyam’ made him a household name among the Telugu viewers. He also expanded his fan base in the two Telugu states with dubbed movies from ‘Nayakudu’, ‘Kshatriya Putrudu, ‘Apoorva Sahodarulu’ and ‘Dasavatharam’ to be hailed as an actor-par-excellence. However, his ratings took a beating with duds like 'Cheekati Rajyam' and ' 'Viswaroopam 2'.
