Samantha bags plum role?
After keeping the producers and directors guessing for some time, glam diva Samantha has reportedly agreed to reprise the role of Trisha in the Telugu remake of the Tamil film, ‘96’. “Samanatha was having some doubts earlier, but now, she has made up her mind to play Trisha’s role since it is a challenging role,” says a source, close to the unit. The actress would be playing the role of a married girl who returns to her school on the re-union day in a village and is shocked when she comes to know that one of her classmates has remained as a bachelor and is still in love with her.
“They spend sometime together and recall their school days and Samantha would be aptly fitting into this performance-oriented role which is devoid of a clichéd song and dance sequences,” the source adds. After playing the role of an investigative scribe in ‘U Turn’ and a ghost in ‘Raju Gari Gadhi 2’ and is expected to be seen in the role of a 70-year-old lady in her upcoming big ticket film with lady director Nandini Reddy which is based on the Korean film, ‘Miss Granny.’ Samantha was bowled over by the idea of an old lady finding herself in the body of a 20-year-old an “exciting and path-breaking plot.” Who said married actresses will be deprived of good roles? Think again.
