Tamannaah last-ditch effort?
After duds like ‘Naa Nuvve,’ pretty actress Tamannaah Bhatia should be pinning hopes on her maiden female-centric film ‘That is Mahalakshmi’ to revive her sagging fortunes. Breaking away from her goody-goody image, the actress went in for a bold makeover in her last release ‘Next Enti’ and even mouthed sex-laced dialogues besides taking part in intimate scenes with Sundeep Kishan, but unfortunately, it couldn’t spin box office magic.
“Probably, Tamannaah wanted to reinvent herself with this bold avatar but the lukewarm response for the new-age film is giving her sleepless nights,” says director Samudra, who believes that her author-backed role in her next film ‘That is Mahalakshmi’ could be a game-changer for her career. “She is a talented actress but seldom got an opportunity to prove it. Now that she is reprising the role of Kangana Ranaut in the Telugu remake of ‘Queen’, she has a point to prove. She will be essaying the role of a middle-class girl who goes on honeymoon alone, while her plain-jane looks have already attracted enough interest.
It’s high time that she pulls in crowds on the strength of her performance,” he adds. Meanwhile, the ‘Rebel’ actress will be romancing megastar Chiranjeevi in his historical film ‘Sye Raa’ and it is touted to be a plum role for her. Another film ‘F2’ with Venkatesh, wherein, she plays a dominant wife. It is time for her to make a comeback of sorts.
