After holding talks with Vijayashanti and Nadiya, the makers of the NTR biopic have roped in Marathi actress Supriya Vinod to essay the key role of the late Indira Gandhi in the film ‘N.T.R’. “She played Indira Gandhi in the Hindi film ‘Indu Sarkar’ and won appreciation.

She has done a fabulous job in the biopic and was looking fiery and strong like the ex-Prime Minister,” says a source, close to the unit. In the story, she even stands with folded hands before the cutout of Lord Krishna in the 1980s. Later, she is informed by a Congress leader that he is not God but Telugu actor NTR and she is stunned. “When she holds a massive meeting in Tirupati, people walk out in large numbers. When she enquires about the reason, she is informed that people are rushing out to listen to NTR in a public meeting nearby,” the source adds.

Later, when the actor-turned-politician becomes Chief Minister and questions the discrimination shown against  the States by the Central government, she is shaken a bit.  “Finally, she ousts him from power  when a TDP minister revolts but later forced to re-instate NTR in 1984 after he gets support from MLAs and the Telugu people,” the source concludes.  Even though, NTR had no enemies in his entire film career, he had to encounter many adversaries when he stepped into politics.
