Don't believe our audience can be affected by a single film's title, says Shreya Dhanwanthary on 'Why Cheat India'
Shreya Dhanwanthary gearing up for the release of 'Why Cheat India' says, she doesn't think a single film's title should affect the audience of a complex country like India.
Shreya Dhanwanthary debuting with 'Why Cheat India' interacted with media at a promotional event.
The film previous title, 'Cheat India' was changed to 'Why Cheat India' a week before the film's release due to an objection by the 'Central Board of Film Certification'.
When asked what she thinks about the change in the film's title, Shreya said, "I just can't help but think why that too in the last minute. I want to try and understand their point of view but I can't believe that we can be affected so much by just one title of a film because in the large scheme of things it shouldn't.
India is a complex country with so many languages, cultures, and regions but they have taken the decision and we should obey it."
Her co-star Emraan Hashmi also took a dig at the situation and changed his Twitter name to Why Emraan Hashmi.
As a debutant when asked if she thinks she will be overshadowed by Imraan, Shreya said, "Not at all. When we began shooting, everything I did I was doing it for the first time so I was super excited and I feel like we both have separate things to contribute to the film. So, there is s responsibility to do justice to the character but nothing more than that. It's just about having fun and hoping that the audience enjoys the film and getting value for money. I am hoping I won't get overshadowed by his fame."
Shreya has been seen on the small screen in web series like 2016's Ladies Room, 2018's The Reunion. She will also be seen in a Web Series titled, 'The Family Man' in 2019.
Directed by Soumik Sen, the film, 'Why Cheat India' is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Tanuj Garg, Atul Kasbekar and Emraan Hashmi
'Why Cheat India' is slated to release on 18th Jan 2019
