Kangana Ranaut who turned director for the first time with Manikarnika says children audience in India need to watch films that will introduce them to our history and fundamental rights.

Kangana interacted with media at a special Manikarnika screening for kids in Mumbai on Thursday.

When talking about her choice to screen the film for children Kangana said she kept the younger audience in mind while directing the film.

"For us, it's been an incredible experience that film is being appreciated by everyone. And today there was a screening held for kids from different School. While directing this film I kept our younger audience in mind because they are very important. They are the future and foundation of our country. So such patriotic stories and history  ideals  that introduce them to the idea of fundamental human rights should be presented."

While Manikarnika has received praise and appreciation from the audience, but even after release, the film is surrounded by controversies.

Talking about backlash from co-director Krish over film's credit and actor Mishti Chakravarty for taking over the film, Ranaut said, "Their names are known today because of this film.  Had you ever heard of them before? Even after that if they can’t show their gratitude, that’s on them.

If you are going great there are always going to be people trying to drag you down. That's human nature, so we are concentrating on what's more important which is to get the film out there to more people and kids. There are so many people who have given their life money and time to this film, we should be talking about them and not the people who are trying to stir unnecessary things."

Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi is co-directed by Krish and Kangana Ranaut and produced by Zee Studios in association with Kamal Jain and Nishant Pitti.

The film released on 25 January 2019.
