She passed away due to accidental drowning. And the kapoor family is still grieving over the loss. Yesterday February 14,2018 Sridevi's family held a puja at her home in Chennai, ahead of her first death anniversary. The puja was attended by the late actress husband Boney Kapoor, her brother in law Anil kapoor and her daughers jhanvi kapoor and khushi kapoor. The puja was held as per the Tithi, Sridevi's death anniversary falls on February 14.
There is no cinema without Actress Sridevi. Sridevi Kapoor born Shree Amma Yanger Ayyapan; 13 August 1963, in Sivakasi Madras state, Tamil Nadu. She was an Indian actress and producer, who worked in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada Films. Regarded she was the first female superstar in the film Industry and of the Indian cinema.
She was known as the recipient of various accolades, including the National Film Award, The Nandi Award, The Tamil Nadu State Film Award, The Kerala State Film Award and three film fare awards and Three Film Fare Awards South. she has done from slap stick comedy to epick dramas and was known for her portrayals of women in challenging situations and appeared in all genres.
In the film industry she was known to be the highest paid woman in the 1980's and 1990s and is widely regarded as one of the greatest and most influential actresses in the history of Indian cinema.

The queen of stars Sridevi got a notable appearance on silverscreen with her acting skills in romantic drama Julie (1975), that was her first starring role in the Hindi film industry with the 1979 drama film Solva Sawan, and she recieved a wider recognition with the 1983 film Himmatwala. February 20, 2018, Sridevi and her yougest daughter khushi and sridevi had flown to Al - Jazirah Al Hamra in Ras al- Khaimah, United Arab Emirates, to attend the family wedding of her nephewMohit Marwah. she wanted to spend ouple of days in dubai to shop for her eldest daughers 21st birthday, ater the wedding. Her husband Boney Kapoor though he was not presnt at the time of the wedding planned to give a surprise visit to his wife, with whom he spoke on the morning of 24th february, When she told him that papa ( that is how sridevi addressesed boney) I'm missing you. According to the sources Boney took a flight to dubai at 15:30 and reached jumeirah Emirates Tower hotel at 18:20 Dubai time Room NO: 2201 where the actress was staying. After meeting they had a brief chat for half an hour or so, they decided to eat dinner. Sridevi went to bathe and to get dressed for dinner, while kapoor waited in the living room. after 15-20 minutes kapoor at 19:00 hours he called out saying it was getting late for dinner but was unable to get the response. Kapoor went to knock the bathroom door, which had not been locked from inside, and sensed that something was wrong. He opened the door and found the actress completely immersed and unresponsive in the bathtub. It remains unclear whether sridevi fell unconscious after or before the drowing. He immediately called his friends who were shocked to know that sridevi had died.
SRIDEVI PRONOUNCED DEAD ON FEBRUARY 24TH,THE WORLD WAS SHATTERED
On pronouncing Actress sridevi's death through the media on 24th February 2018 at 19:00 GMT. at her hotel room where her husband had found her. Firts it was announcd to the Indian media by her brother in law sanjay kapoor that it was cardiac arrest but after the investigations to her death began early sunday morning around 2:30 after the case being handed over to the Dubai public prosecution by Dubai Police, Where Genral Department of Forensic evidence, Dubai revealed that the cause of death was accidental drwoning. The toxicology report later also revealed that traces of alcohol were also found in her body, and water was found in lungs.
The world was shocked to the death of the actress, she has left millions of fans heartbroken.
Many from the film fraternity had paid and close relatives of sridevi paid homage to her celebration sports club in Lokhandwala and also at her Funeral.
Sridevi's funeral is estimated to have attracted the fourth highest number of mourners, ranking below the 3 previous biggest funeral processions of non political film personalities Mohammad Rafi, Kishore Kumar and Rajesh Khanna in India from Hindi filM industry.
she had accquired the full stae honours usually reserved only for the current and former prime ministers, union and state ministers \\. sridevi was also included in 2018 in Memoriam section during the 90th Academy Awards ceremony.
