Cricket betting racket busted; 3 held

​Hyderabad: The Rachakonda Special Operations Team of Malkajgiri Zone along with Medipally police busted a cricket betting racket and apprehended one collection agent and two punters while accepting cricket betting amount under Medipally police station limits on Wednesday.

The arrested persons include B Suresh (32) and J Chandra Shekhar (34), both residents of Medipally and AChandra Mohan (30), resident of Boduppal. The kingpin Venuis still at large, police said. 

According to police, Venu organised the cricket betting near Kanaka Durga Bar & Restaurant in Medipally. He had organised the betting over phone during the IPL match between Sun Risers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium. 

The arrested accused used work as punters.  The police seized Rs 19,520 from the accused and a case. Search is on to nab the kingpin, police said.
