Three members of his gang were also killed in the encounter. The Delhi police said the shootout happened in Fatehpur Beri’s Chanan Hola village, near Chhatarpur.
A team from the Special Cell, which is the anti-terror unit of the city police, intercepted Bharti and his men at a farmhouse. Bharti and his men were asked to surrender but they fired at the policemen, the police said. The other members of the Rajesh Bharti gang killed in the encounter were identified as Vidroh, Umesh Don and Bhiku.
