Cops bust prostitution racket; eight held, one minor rescued
Hyderabad: The Chaitanyapuri police on Friday busted a prostitution racket and apprehended eight while rescuing one minor girl from their clutches. The arrested were charged with procuration of a minor girl for the purpose of prostitution and also sexually assaulting, at Jadcherla and Mahbubnagar.
According to police, main accused Y Chanti (25, driver in Amazon, Haripuri Colony) allegedly lured the minor girl under the guise of love and better living. His wife Y Pushpa (20) assisted him in procuring the girl, who is her cousin. The accused sexually exploited her and later accompanied by his wife, he took her to Jadcherla and Mahbubnagar with the purpose of prostitution.
Based on a complaint filed by Sakku Bhai (55, housewife, resident of Kothapet) on December 10, the police registered a girl missing case and took up investigation. On Friday, police traced the victim in Dilsukhnagar and arrested Y Chanti, Y Pushpa, Faridha Begum (36, Tailor), K Krishnaveni (28), T Swaroopa (34), P Padma (25), D Manjula (36), and G Radha (50). The police filed cases under sections 376(2) (i)(n), 114, 366(A), 370, 370 (A), 120(b) IPC and section 5(1) r/w 6 of POCSO Act-2014, section 5(1)(a) of PITA Act-1956.
