Restaurant running sans licence closed
Chandrayangutta: A restaurant, which flouted norms and was running without licence from civic authorities, has been sealed by the GHMC officials at Hafeez Baba Nagar. The action comes as a fallout of a recent accident in which a teenage girl died, while she was forced to walk on the narrowed main road, as the hotel management dumped heap of timber on footpath.Speaking to The Hans India, GHMC Deputy Commissioner (Chandrayangutta) P Mohan Reddy said that the restaurant had failed to follow norms including parking and did not have license to run it.
He said that as the restaurant had compromised the safety of the public, with its haphazard parking and dumping of the timber and creating hurdles for traffic, it was completely closed.“There is already a High Court order against the hotel for not following norms and we had to initiate action. A few days back a college going girl was knocked down by a bus causing her death, as the hotel dumped the timber on roadside,” he explained.
It may be mentioned here that a 17-year old girl on her way to college was crushed under the rear tyres of the RTC bus, as she was walking on the road, which was narrowed by the pile of timber dumped in front of it. The teenager, Amatur Rahman Munazzah, who was residing in Omer Colony of Hafeez Baba Nagar under Chandrayangutta police station limits died on the spot.
Based on a complaint from mother of the victim, cases were booked against the hotel in charge and the driver causing death by negligence (Section 304 A of IPC). Following the accident, the CCTV video footage was shared on social media platforms questioning the authorities over the pedestrian safety in the city.
