Political farce won’t work in Telangana State any more

Update: 2018-12-02 05:30 IST

People of Telangana are soft but very intelligent and politically aware. They will not tolerate anyone trying to dominate them. This they have proved time and again.

But the politicians do not seem to recognise this aspect. When the TRS decided to dissolve the Assembly and seek preponement of elections, the reason given by TRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao was that the Opposition was causing hurdles in every programme he had launched and hence he wanted a referendum from the people on the performance of the government and the attitude of the Opposition parties.

But as the D Day is drawing closer, just as the undercurrent among the people is coming to the fore, the real political intentions and groupings also seem to be opening up. When the Opposition in all public meetings alleged that the BJP and the TRS had joined hands and were indulging in shadow boxing, there was still an iota of doubt on whether it was true or not. But things now seem to be falling in place and it appears that there is some logic in what the Opposition has been alleging.

The statement of K T Rama Rao that “We don’t want to trouble anyone, but as elders say, be prepared to get stung if you poke your finger in an anthill. Naidu has poked his nose in our business. We’ll do so in Andhra to eliminate him from politics...” As 2018 would become part of history in next four weeks, new political trends seem to be emerging.

All these years one heard of asking people to dump a particular party in ocean. But now we are hearing words like “elimination from politics.” And the unfortunate part is it is coming from young, educated and upcoming politicians like KTR.

Interestingly, the TRS scion was all praise for Jana Sena boss Pawan Kalyan and YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, triggering speculation that either or both parties may in the near future join the proposed

Federal Front — the anti-BJP, anti-Congress alliance. KCR reiterated his intention of such a front at the public meeting in Hyderabad on Sunday. Political analysts say that the TRS has two options.

One, enter the electoral fray directly in AP. Such a chance as of now appears to be remote unless the TRS gets over 70 seats in the Telangana Assembly elections. The second option is to support Pawan Kalyan and YSRCP led by Jaganmohan Reddy to “eliminate Naidu,” from politics. It is interesting to note that both Pawan and Jagan have decided not to contest in Telangana.

Another issue that has caused more confusion among the people who originally belong to Andhra region and are settled in Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana for decades is the duel stand of the TRS.

When the TDP which continues to have its roots in Telangana has fielded Suhasini, son of Nandamuri Harikrishna from Kukatpally, the reaction of KTR was if the TDP president and AP Chief Minister had so much love for her, he should have taken her into his Cabinet.

On the other hand, the caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday asked all those who have come to Hyderabad from Andhra to forget that they are from Andhra and feel proud to be Hyderabadis.

Cannot proud Hyderabadis contest polls? If so, what is wrong in Suhasini contesting from Kukatpally? KCR also said the TDP president whose party is contesting just 13 seats has no base in Telangana but was trying to poison the hearts of people who are living here peacefully.

What does that mean? Are they at somebody’s mercy? It’s time all political parties give the devil (read as people) its due and accept that they and only they are most intelligent and can understand the poly tricks much better.
