The chemistry section was difficult as compared to previous years. Questions from inorganic chemistry which are considered to be easy were comparatively tough. Most questions were conceptual but tricky.
The mathematic section was the easiest this time. There were many questions from calculus, vector algebra and 3D geometry. Class 12th syllabus dominated in this section. Most of the questions could be solved by applying direct formulas.
The biology section had equal number of questions from both zoology and botany unlike previous year where majority questions were from botany. This section saw a moderate level of difficulty.
Paper Analysis of 2016

The physics section was considered to be toughest among all the sections. Most questions were twisted and numerical-based and required more time to be solved.
Chemistry section was the easiest. There were only two numerical-based questions in the whole paper. Although the organic chemistry was a little tough, this section helped students save a lot of time.
The mathematics section was lengthy but it was doable whereas the biology section was decent. The majority questions were from genetics and plant physiology. Questions from botany dominated this section.
Expectations in 2018
This year MHT CETis scheduled to be conducted on May 10. There is a slight change in paper pattern as compared to the previous years. The Directorate of Technical Education Maharashtra State has announced that the difficulty level of the examination will be at par with JEE Main. Also, around 80% weightage will be given to class 12th syllabus while only 20% will be given to class 11th syllabus. All the questions will be based on syllabus set by Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Education.
However, the number of questions in Paper I, II and III will remain same as previous years. The questions will be application based with no negative marking for wrong answers.
It is difficult to predict the difficulty level of MHT CET but since there is a slight change in paper pattern, students can expect the paper to be a little tougher when compared to previous years.
The students who have completed their 12th class examination in science stream are eligible to appear for the exam. The paper is based on 11th and 12th grade syllabus with majority weightage given to class 12th syllabus. The total examination is of 200 marks. For each correct answer in math, candidates are awarded 2 marks while 1 mark is awarded for each correct answer in physics, chemistry and biology. To the candidates comfort, negative marking is not applicable for incorrect answers so the candidates can be open to making guesses.
