Supreme Court refuses to stay declaration of NEET 2018 results
Refusing to stay the announcement of results of the All-India NEET exam, the Supreme Court on Monday made the decision after listening to a plea filed by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) challenging the stay on the declaration of results of NEET 2018, set to be declared today.
The national level entrance examination was conducted for undergraduate medical and dental courses.
An interim stay was granted by the Madras High Court on the publication of the results on May 24. Alleging that a uniform question paper was not given and pointing out a vast difference between the one in English and Tamil, the petitioners demanded that the NEET be canceled and a fresh examination with a uniform question paper be conducted. They claimed that despite a common syllabus announced, different sets of question paper had been used at various places.
CBSE, in its counter-affidavit, rejected the claim that question papers in Gujarati were easier compared to English. The CBSE today announced that the NEET UG exam will be announced on June 4, 2018, and the candidates can check their results on the official website of CBSE - cbseneet.nic.in.
