JBIET: Imparting timeless values to its learners

Hyderabad: Started with a mission to impart high quality technical and professional education in order to mould the learners into globally competitive professionals, the J B Institute of Engineering and Technology has grown leaps and bounce with its innovative teaching methodologies.

Talking through the journey of the college, JB Institute of Engineering and Technology Principal Towheed Sultana said that the college was started in the year 1998 with an intake of 60 students and at present the JB Group of Educational Institutions is unique and distinguished in one respect as it houses nine technical and professional colleges on a sprawling and lush green campus of 106 acres offering different disciplines of study, technical, medical, pharmacy, management, Law, Architecture etc.

Tell us about the college
The college was started in 1998 with a vision of nurturing excellence in the field of engineering and professional courses by imparting timeless core values to the learners and to mould the institution into a centre of academic excellence and advanced research. The college was founded by Late Joginpally Bhaskar Rao, who was our founder chairman. J V Krishna Rao is the Secretary of JB Group of Educational Institutions, who took the mission to convert the vision of his father into a reality.

What are the courses offered?
In the under graduate courses we are offering B. Tech in Civil Engineering (CE), Computer Sciences and Engineering (CSE), Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), Mechanical Engineering (ME), Information Technology (IT), Mining Engineering (MIE),  Electronic and Computer Engineering (ECM) and under the Post Graduate Courses M.Tech Computer in Computer Science Engineering CSE), VLSI System Design (VLSISD), CAD/CAM and Structural Engineering. Apart from these, we also offer MBA and MCA.

What are the facilities at BJIET?
Our campus is in an area of 106 acres of land with excellent infrastructure with spacious classrooms. We have well managed fleet of college buses available for both staff and students covering all major routes, cafeteria with three canteens, separate hostel for boys and girls with free Wi-Fi. All the students of nine colleges are having insurance cover to the tune of Rs 5 lakh per head. The health care is in Bhaskar General Hospital. The college was provided autonomy during the previous academic year.

 Are there any recent developments in the campus? 
We have recently started Life Skills Lab. The life skill classrooms are activity based where the students have to conduct class. There are 10 labs where students would have to take three classes and we offer two credits during the final examination. The life skills like advanced communication skills etc are taught to the students.  

We have signed a MoU with Circumpunkt Learning Solutions Pvt. Ltd. and started a programme where the industry people would interact with the students and this would help in knowing the institute what exactly the industry needs so that the curriculum is prepared as per the suggestions. As per the program a batch of 20 students would be interacting with the industry people. 

The life skills would help the students in making them aware about the hard and soft skills, positive behaviour, essential social skills, how employers rate candidate skills/qualities etc.

We have started JB Inventor and Innovators Association, which is recognised nationally. We are identifying universities where the best research is done and we will use our students to visit those universities for experiencing. Some universities have confirmed to be part of the Association. Experienced Professors from these universities would be part of the association.

What are the co-curricular activities?
We encourage students to take part in the extracurricular activities like participating in sports, NSS (National Service Scheme) activities.  We have adopted Jeevan Guda in Yenkapally mandal which has a population of 250 families. We helped the villagers to maintain cleanliness in the surroundings. The initiative of the students brought a big change in the villagers.

What are the sports activities in the college?
We encourage the students in taking sports disciplines. We have good infrastructure in sports like football, cricket grounds. One of our students B Geeta is part of the Telangana State Hockey team and plays as Centre Forward. We were runners in the cricket in 2007 in University championship. Apart from these we have facility for softball, table tennis, Yoga etc.

How are the placements?
We have robust placements and our students have been placed in worlds best multinational companies like Infosys, Amazon, IBM, HCL, Google Maps, HSBC Bank, ICICI Bank etc. The placement cell provides opportunities to work in global market.
