IEEE summer school on computational intelligence opens

Hyderabad: A six- day summer school on Computational Intelligence was inaugurated at Muffakham Jah College of Engineering and Technology in collaboration with IEEE Hyderabad Section on Thursday. The summer school has over 10 international speakers from US, Singapore, Australia, Italy, Slovenia, Japan and Austria. The participants comprised of about 50 faculty and researchers involved in the field of Artificial Intelligence from all parts of India. This programme is financially sponsored by IEEE CIS and GRSS society Headquartered at San Jose, USA with MJCET being the Venue Partner.

Prof Atul Negi, Program Chair of the summer school welcomed the participants and briefed about the long standing efforts of IEEE Hyderabad Section for conduct of this program. The chief guest of the function P N Suganthan, Professor, NTU, Singapore encouraged the participants to do active research and publish papers in high quality journals and conferences and improve the worldwide ranking of Indian Research. Janab Zafar Javeed, Hon. Secretary, Sultan Ul Education Society mentioned in his presidential address that MJCET has partnered with IEEE Hyderabad Section for promotion of Research and Development activities. He also mentioned that MJCET has 52 faculty with Ph. D and 77 are pursuing Ph.D.

Sabrina Senatore, Associate Professor, Salerno University, Italy, guest of honour was a representative of Women in engineering and encouraged women to work in the area of Artificial Intelligence. Basheer Ahmed, Advisor cum Director of MJCET highlighted the collaboration of IEEE and MJCET for the last 16 years in the form of a very active student branch. He appreciated the efforts of Mousmi Ajay Chaurasia, Head of Information Technology department and her entire team for her tireless efforts in organising this programme. 

PVS Maruthi Rao, Chair of IEEE Hyderabad Section mentioned that this is the first summer school of the section and hoped that more such sessions will be organised in future. The official proceedings of the workshop were released by the dignitaries of IEEE Hyderabad Section and MJCET. P Laxman Rao, Finance chair presented the vote of thanks and wished the participants a technically packed six-days of lectures and practical sessions on Computational Intelligence.
