TIT&S celebrates Platinum Jubilee

Haryana: The Technological Institute of Textile & Sciences, Bhiwani, which celebrated completion of 75 years on Saturday, plans to introduce specialised programmes such as Nano- Technology, Cyber Forensics and Genetics. TIT&S was founded by visionary industrialist Late G D Birla in 1943. Member Secretary of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Prof. Alok Prakash Mittal, graced the inaugural ceremony of Platinum Jubilee of TIT&S as the chief guest. Prof Mittal emphasised on removing industry-institute gap and exposing students to problem situations faced by industries so that they can connect themselves in a better way with that and find the solution. He mentioned about the importance of enhancing ability of application of knowledge in students too. 

He also stressed on more faculty development programmes to ensure that they are well aware of the fast-changing technological developments and are up-to-date with latest developments in their fields. Prof G K Tyagi, Director, TIT&S, while presenting a report on the growth of the institute, said, “We also plan to tie up with reputed universities within and outside the country for faculty and student exchange programmes.” More than 300 alumni, including one from the 1944  batch,  congregated  from  across  the world at their Alma Mater at Bhiwani to relive their grooming days. One of the main attractions of the event has been an  exhibition  wherein  the  students  of TIT&S highlighted products like home décor items, apparel and accessories developed in- house by the Fashion & Apparel Engineering Department. 

Another attraction has been a showcase of the journey of Indian fashion and culture  through  an  interesting  blend  of fashion, music and dance, prepared by the Department of Fashion and Apparel Engineering. The AICTE-approved Institute currently offers B Tech courses in Textile Technology, Textile Chemistry, Fashion & Apparel Engineering, Computer Eng ineering, Information Technology, Electronics & Communication and Mechanical Engineering, M. Tech courses in Textile Technology, Fashion & Apparel Engineering and Computer Engineering besides Master of Business Administration.

TIT&S has always been renowned for reliability of its Test House also. The Testing facility, at the institute, has offered testing and sampling services to several Government and non- Government organisations. Having been a centre of excellence in R&D, TIT&S has completed many sponsored research projects for authorities like f•1inistry of Textiles, DRDO, UGC, TIFAC-MSME, AICTE, etc.
