Tokyo varsity to hold workshop on Disaster Management

Visakhapatnam: GITAM Deemed to be University Civil Engineering Department and the University of Tokyo, Japan are jointly organising an International Workshop on “Disaster Mitigation and Management” during December 10-11.  In view of this a special booklet was released by GITAM Vice-Chancellor Prof. MS Prasada Rao here on Monday at GITAM campus. The University Registrar Prof. M. Potharaju, Institute of Technology Principal Prof.K.Lakshmiprasad, Civil engineering Department Head Prof. K V Ramesh, senior faculty members Prof.Ramesh, Prof.K.Veerabhadram and others participated in the programme. 

While briefing about the workshop Prof. K. Lakshmiprasad informed that experts from GITAM Civil Engineering Department, University of Tokyo Disaster Management Training Centre (DMTC), Japan Shibaura Institute of Technology will participate in the discussions. The international workshop will focus on Disaster Process Engineering, Japanese Urban Planning Techniques for Disaster Mitigation, flood Disaster Management in Tokyo, Disaster Risk Management in Nepal. As part of the workshop the experts will interact with AP Revenue Department Officials on disaster management and preparedness studies, and also with GVMC Officials to discuss on Smart City disaster management plan.
