Modern Essentials' selected by David Beckham, a line especially handpicked by the English football great for Sweden-based brand H&M, on Thursday hit stores globally, including in India. The collection will be available in all H&M stores.
Talking about the line, Beckham said in a statement: "I am always updating my wardrobe with a mix of tailored and casual pieces which is why I love this 'Modern Essentials' collection at H&M. These pieces are so versatile and can be worn in so many different ways. The mix of tailoring and updated classics creates the perfect wardrobe for the season ahead."
Some of the pieces that define the range are a navy Harrington jacket with matching navy tailored pants; navy t-shirt; tailored suit in stretch cotton; and navy suit in cotton linen fabric. Textures, colours and fabrics are key this season and hence the collection has pieces that focus more on such trends.
"This season we were looking at the evolution of men's style and how different garments have joined tailoring in new uniform The look under the range is clean with lots of contrast from textures and crisp colours for the new season," said Andreas LAwenstam, H&M's men's head of design.
A first hand experience of the latest collection under the range was given to the media at the brand's press showroom in the capital. A crewneck sweatshirt that has been updated with details including raw edges and inside-out seams on the collar and raglan sleeves for a worn effect, is a winner.
The sweatshirt also has side zips in the seams for ventilation and ease of movement, and comes in neutrals such as khaki green, grey and black. If you are someone who loves the casual look, joggers have all the essential technical details such as zip pockets and a rope drawstring, and come in grey melange or technical cotton. T-shirts and vests continue the themes of the collection, with raw edges in neutral shades.
These seasonal pieces join the core David Beckham Bodywear products, which have been available in H&M stores worldwide since its launch in 2012. Apart from Beckham's latest bodywear line, the showroom also previewed the Studio Collection - SS16, a key seasonal fashion collection for women.
Some of the pieces are spaghetti strap striped dresses with handkerchief hems, halterneck top and long skirts, or optic native print kaftans with oversized tie fronts and throw-on layers giving a feeling of beach summer. There are also halter necks, bikinis, draped shorts, performance leggings, floaty dresses and hoodies.
