Rebbenpalle (Adilabad): Thanks to the unselfish and kind-hearted headmistress, who is spending a part of her salary for the students and the charity of the civil society organisations, with whose efforts the Rebbenpalle Government Primary School earned the distinction of the government school having highest student strength.  The students of this school are supplied with uniform, text books, note books, pens, pencils, compass boxes, tie, shoes, belt and ID cards free of cost. Besides the mid-day meals, the students are being provided nutritious snacks in the evening. The NGOs and the headmistress, who is spending 20 per cent of her salary for the benefit of the students, are also paying some amount of the auto fares of the students coming to school from surrounding villages.

This resulted in more students getting enrolled in the school, where English medium was introduced last year. All this has pushed the student strength from last year’s 100 to 170.

People from Yellaram, Chintapalli, Nalki Venkatapur, Ippalaguda, Chelkagudem, Mutyampet and other villages started sending their wards to the school. Out of the total students of 170, 70 are from neighbouring villages of Rebbenpalle.

The NGOs contributed to provide desks, computers, projectors, mineral water, library, free yoga and karate to students.

Four educational volunteers were appointed to share the work load of the two teachers in the school. The NGOs are payig their wages.

NGOs Big Help Education and Big Smile provided computers, while Asa-in-Trust supplied note books to students. Osmania University Professor Neelakantham donated water purification plant to the school. The Hyderabad-based Padmavati Charitable Trust donated projector to the school.  The School Headmistress, Archana, spends 20 per cent of her wages for providing snacks to the students in the evening and sharing the auto fare of the students coming from neighbouring villages. She said that she purchased tie, boots and belt for students spending from her pocket. Rebbenpalle Sarpanch Rajeswari feels proud of the government school in the village for the highest student enrollment compared to other schools in Mancherial district.

Parents are sending their wards to the government school after English medium was introduced in the school, she said putting the teaching at the school is comparatively better.

According to fifth class student Sirisha, students are being taught with the help of projectors. The school offers computer education. Note books have been given free of cost to the students, she added.
