Encroachers eye spiritual leader’s land for grabbing
Tandur: Vested interests have sunken a bore well in a 35 guntals of private land belonging to a 18th century spiritual leader in the town with an eye to grab the prime property.
According to reports, spiritual leader Neelakantha Swamy used to perform bhajans and deliver spiritual discourses about 200 years ago. He attained Samadhi in 1813. Since then family members and his disciples used to perform pujas at the grave.
But, the vested interests have eyed this site as there is a lot of vacant space around the grave.
They swung into immediate action and created fake documents to the effect that the site belonged to the endowments department. They have sunken a bore well to grab the valuable land allegedly with the sport of some political bigwigs. However, the spiritual leaders family members vowed to protect the land from encroachers come what may even at the cost of their lives.
