Sixty new institutions have made their first appearance in the final top 1000 institutions. Manipal Academy of Higher Education has been ranked in the 751-800 range, the best among Indian Private Universities. Amongst the indicators and weightings, which make up the ranking, MAHE’s research intensity & the faculty student ratio have been rated high & good respectively.

Speaking on the occasion Dr Vinod Bhat, Vice Chancellor, Manipal Academy of Higher Education said, “I am delighted to learn about MAHE’S position in the QS World Ranking for 2019. This is the second consecutive year that MAHE is the highest ranked private University in the country, speaking volumes about the university’s commitment to excellence in education and research. Given the strict evaluation parameters for the rankings, it is remarkable to receive a notable mention of student to faculty ratio that reinforces the dedication and vision of our staff and faculty towards the students.”

Based on six performance indicators, the ranking process assesses university performance across four areas: research, teaching, employability and internationalisation. The performance indicators are academic reputation, employer reputation, and student-to-faculty ratio, citations per faculty, international faculty ratio and international student ratio. Four of the indicators are based on ‘hard’ data, and the remaining two, on major global surveys – one of academics and another of employers.
