Hyderabad: June 21 being the longest day in summer, has yet another significance of celebrations of both soul and alma mater. The International Yoga Day was declared to inculcate the habit of practising yoga, Asanas every day in mechanical and modern life.

Such a day of integration of mind and body was celebrated by the young Niveditans of Sister Nivedita School, Ameerpet at GHMC grounds, at a grand scale. Like the planets revolving in their circular orbits, the students of Pre Primary, Primary and Secondary school genuinely demonstrated the Asanas, Pranayama and Suryanamaskar, taking their positions in circles with the demonstrators at the centre.  The mainspring of the entire celebration was the amazing coordination observed between the student demonstrators and the other students.

It was a treat to all the sense organs watching the arena of white, hearing the YOGA Mantra, breathing the odour of the mother soil and experiencing the peace on meditation. With the great efforts of the yoga teachers, the teaching and the non-teaching staff, this day had become another memorable and successful day adding a soulful feather to the cap of success of the school. This day’s programme had inspired everyone to make yoga – a daily routine, to make KRIYA – a daily Karma, to make Asanas- a daily work – out, and to make Pranayama -a daily prayer. Obviously, yoga day can never be a single day’s celebration but it is a part and parcel of one’s life.
