Tandur: The members of various organisations celebrated the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji at Peddamul, Yalal, Basheerabad and Tandur in the division on Tuesday. The activities of Bajrang Dal, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the Hindu Vahini painted the town with saffron.

They conducted a procession with the statues of the ‘King Warrior’ that passed through Railway Hanuman Mandir, Marwada Bazar, Gandhi Chowk, Shanthi Mahal Chowk, Indira Chowk and reached Shivaji Chowk on Chincholi Chowk. The procession reverberated with slogans of “Jai Bhavani – Veer Shivaji,” “Bharat Matha Ki Jai” and “Jai Sri Ram.”

They paid tributes to Shivaji by garlanding his statue. Later, addressing a meeting, the speakers appealed to the youngsters to follow the path laid by Shivaji. In Peddamul, Bajrang Dal activists paid floral tributes to Shivaji’s portrait at Vivekananda Statue near Peddamul Bus Stand.
