Enabling employment for women in Old City

Misri Gunj: With more and more women, particularly from the weaker sections, aspiring to be self-empowered, Khak-e-Taiba Trust (KTT) in the Old City of Hyderabad inaugurated the second Rozgar Centre here recently.

The centre was inaugurated by senior advocate and managing trustee of KTT Ghulam Yazdani in the presence of educationists and intellectuals from across verticals including KM Arifuddin, 

Secretary – Madina Education and Welfare Society, KTT Chairman Mohammed Azeem Qureshi, philanthropist Asif Khan, Tabassum Farooqui, Director – Indo-Middle East International School (Riyadh), Aisha Zaheeruddin educationist and session judge E Ismail, among others.

The centre, which will serve as an extension to the existing facility that was inaugurated by former DG-Anti Corruption Bureau AK Khan in August 2016, seeks to double employment opportunities for women in nearby localities. 

These self-employment centres empower deserving women with sewing and stitching skills. Women are trained to work with industrial grade sewing machines free of cost, and are also provided a decent salary. Some women, depending on their skillset are also assisted in jobs placement by the trust on humanitarian grounds.

As many as 30 women from the underprivileged sections of the community undergo training and placement at these centres. The trust expects an equal number or more deserving women to gain from the expansion of this facility. These centres are aimed at providing employment and self-reliance opportunities to the underprivileged strata of the minority community.

Speaking on the occasion, KM Arifuddin announced to sponsor intermediate and degree education of ten girl-students passing out of the Muhaddis-e-Deccan High School (MDHS) run by KTT while MDHS Director Azeem Qureshi congratulated the students for securing ‘cent percent’ results in the exams. 

Projector Directors Sadiq Ali and Minhaj-ul-Hassan, Advocate Shareefuddin Anwar, Mohammed Shamsuddin, Dr Iqbal, Azmath Siddiqui, and others were present on this occasion.
