GHMC neglects construction of Community Hall
Musheerabad: A community hall at Sanjeevaiah colony here, which was in a bad condition for years now, was demolished by Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) six months ago. However, the department left debris lying on the streets. Even after months of complaining there was no response from officials regarding cleaning of the debris, which is now causing a problem for the people living in the colony.
The hall that was constructed after its inauguration in 2001 by MLA K Laxman was in a state of despair for a long time. S Ragu, President of Sanjeeviah colony said that the community hall was used for marriage and other functions in the area. “The officials took away the iron rods after the demolition and did not clean the debris. They are exploiting the resources and will sell the rods for money,” he alleged.
Aruna, a resident of the colony, informed that the condition of the hall had turned from bad to worse and it was on the brink of collapse.
Another resident Pentamma said that the debris of the community hall has been posing danger for the children in the area as it is left open and dug-up to ground level. She mentioned that many children were been injured because of the debris and demolition work.
When contacted Assistant Engineer of GHMC refused to comment on the issue.
