Uppal: New Year’s Eve turned deadly here for a man, who was a cab driver, after he rammed into barricades on the road suffering serious injuries to his face and knees. However, much like the superheroes that they are, the traffic police team of LB Nagar rushed to the rescue of the victim. The incident occurred at 5.40am on Monday.

Sharing details of the incident, A Nagamallu, Traffic inspector in-charge said, “We were on duty from 10pm on December 31. A white car came on high speed and rammed into the barricades, which were on the road and turned upside down. The driver, who was the only one in the car, fell and landed 10 metres away into a ditch.”

“Two of us went near the ditch to check on him. When asked, he could not recall his name. We called the ambulance and later, the law and order team to inform about ‘driving accident’ case,” he said.

According to the inspector, the driver was sleepy, which could have caused the accident. “However, the law and order team would investigate the matter,” he said.

After providing water and first aid to the victim, he was revived to a decent state. “He spoke to us and informed that he was the cab driver, though he could not tell his name. The victim is shifted to a hospital and is recovering,” said the inspector.

This is the second time within a week when cops turned to the rescue of citizens in times of emergency. Earlier, on December 25, they rescued a man who fell on the roads at Saroornagar after a serious attack of fits. The cops had taken him to the hospital and ensured his safety.

With the New Year emotion running high, it is heartening to see law-enforcing agents to display that humanity is above their duty.
