MIM leader Bilal joins Congress
Yakutpura: Former MIM leader and ex-Corporator Khaja Bilal Ahmed from Old City tried to take out a rally towards Gandhi Bhavan for joining the Congress party on Tuesday. However, police denied permission it.
He is the second senior MIM leader who deserted the party and joined other political group during recent times. It is for the first time that dissent is so apparent in MIM, which is said to be Hyderabad’s strong political group.
Ahmed joined the party in the presence of senior congress leaders that included R C Khuntia, PCC President Uttam Kumar Reddy, Mohammed Ali Shabbir and others.
He said that he did not want to continue with communal politics and hence joined the party that values secularism. He said, “India is a country where people belonging to different religions, castes and creed live in and Congress party values every religion and every section of the society equally.”
He said that he was ready to face the consequences of leaving his political group and would like to work for the people of city with Congress.
