Mock drill at Secunderabad Railway Station
Secunderabad: Sniffer dogs and armed personnel stormed into the railway station here on Friday leaving the passengers on tenterhooks. The choked railway platforms suddenly became busy with searching and checking etc.
Passengers worried a lot that something was going to happen. Later, they heaved a sigh of relief when they learnt that it was part of a mock drill about preparedness and evacuation drill during the unexpected and unwanted situation.
Integrated Intelligence Training Academy (IITA) conducted this mock drill to sensitise people about the measures to be taken in case of any disaster. A total of 52 dogs sniffed suspected luggage that include bags and tiffin carriers.
According to one officials, sometimes a large number of people to be evacuated from the place immediately and stampede kind of situations must be avoided. Evacuation, frisking, sniffing are usually conducted in this exercise.
A passenger, who was terrified by the sudden incident said later that he had much confidence now. He also said that he would never worried about any emergencies and extend help to others to overcome the situation.
Intelligence Security Wing, Railway Protection Force and Government Railway Police were among those conducted the drill.
Passengers and officials expressed happiness over the success of the mock drill. Such kind of exercises will improve the preparedness in any kind of situation, observed a senior citizen who was present there.
