St. Mary's College conducts film festival

 Yousfguda: St. Mary's College on Friday celebrated the second edition of “Montage 2018: celebrating student shots”, conducted by the Department of Social Sciences and Mass Communication.

Over 30 movies were submitted to the festival. Out of which, 25 were screened. The best film award was scored by Ithyvruttham and the Best Direction title was shared by Behu and Sharang. The special Jury Award went to Veterans and White fields. For the first time another segment Short cuts for School children was introduced. 

The first prize was achieved by Salute and followed by Water Conservation winning the second spot.Renowned actor Surya Kumar Bhagvandas said that he has made over 600 films and multiple TV Series. 

There are no hard and fast rules in making a film. He spoke about the emotional switches that actors must possess and the prospects of Art Direction.
Filmmaker Mohit Garg conducted a workshop on film making and emphasized the role of image and sound in cinema. He said that the influence of cinema on his perspective and his life experiences helping him in storytelling.

Filmmaker Aneesh Daniel said that the importance of responsibility alongside creativity as an extension of the industry. He expressed support towards media students and gave anecdotes about his hardwork. 

He said learning and admitted it to be the key to success. Being a good human being and doing the right thing should be a quality in young media students, he added.Students from various colleges visited the film festival by sharing interest of storytelling.
