Traffic violations galore at Begum Bazaar

Begum Bazaar: The roads in spice markets in the old city are always chock-a-block and the traffic police leave no chance to catch two-wheeler riders without helmets but several small-time traders go scot free who not only move about without wearing helmets but carry 80-100 kg bags on scooters.

On Sunday, an old woman fell down in an accident at Afzaljung when a scooter brushed past her. She was lucky to have escaped without major injuries but it could have been fatal.  The rider was carrying heavy bags on the scooter and was unable to manoeuvre through the small lane near Afzaljung.

Rahmat Ali, a resident of Afzaljung said, “The police turn a blind eye to these traders who keep whizzing past throughout the day with heavy bags on scooters.”
