Alwal: The roads of Alwal in Vekatapuri region have been in a bad shape for the last four years now. The worst part is  that nobody has turned up to address this problem which people have been facing  in spite of complaining to the local authorities.

Soham Reddy, a B Com second year student and a local resident told The Hans India, “Last month while going to college on my bike I fell down twice. The roads are in such a bad condition that any driving here can lose control over their vehicle”, Yadamma, a local fruit vendor told The Hans India, “It has become a nightmare to be on the roads even during morning.

When the vehicles run on these roads there is lot of dust which is produced and enters our eyes. The pollution levels have become very high in the area due to this.” Brahmaiah, an auto driver and a local resident said, “It is horrible during the rainy season. There is lot of water clogging in the pot holes of the roads in which mosquitoes and other insects breed. We cannot walk on the roads post rainfall.”

Ghanshyam Reddy, a software employee said, “We tried talking to the officials of GHMC team, they say that road restoration works does not belong to them. When we ask them whom do we contact they do not give us any details. We feel helpless.”

In the meantime we got in touch with the GHMC officials. A senior officer, reacted by saying: “We have not received any complaints from the residents of that place. However, I shall escalate the matter to the concerned authorities on an immediate basis, to ensure that the problem is addressed soon.”
