Kite sales soar high in Hyderabad

Charminar: With only few days left for the Sankranti, the festival of kites, the streets in old city are already decorated with kites and other ornamental stuff. The kites festival is celebrated in a grand way in Hyderabad.

Pavement shops have sprouted on the prominent streets like Gulzar Houz, Kali Kaman, Hussaini Alam, Ghansi Bazar and other areas.
 
The kite flying in old city is coupled with songs, dance and celebrations on rooftops. Men, women and youth along with children would be on rooftops for couple of days and especially on the day of Sankranti, flying kites and music playing on the decks.  
While the business of kites thrives during Sankranti, catering services, light & sound, decoration and other businesses also do a good business.

A number of shops has already been sprouted near Gulzar Houz creating an ambience of festival already.

Sankranti is falling on January 15 this year. Ramesh Solanki, a Kite seller near Kali Kaman said that demand for fancy kites was very high as usual. He said that the trend of old patterns of Kites still exists.

There are many people who would like to fly old patterns though many others are preferring lanterns and radium kites now, he informed.

Mushtaq Ahmed from Purani Haveli said that Sankranti festival fills joy and festive mood among the youth of old city. The festival is celebrated by all sections of society in city, he said.
