National wrestling championship underway
Boduppal: The 63rd National School Games Belt Wrestling Championship for U-19 boys and girls was inaugurated in Pallavi Model School, Boduppal. The event is scheduled for three days from January 13-16. The chief guests for the day were DIEO, Jayaprada Bai, Komaraiah garu, Chairman,Pallavi Model Schools, Mallesh garu, Director of Shalivahana groups, Sharma, observer,Rami Reddy, State Secretary, Sudhakar, DYSO, Sushil Kumar, Director Pallavi Model School, Boduppal, and T.Tanuja, Principal- Pallavi Model School, Boduppal.
The event commenced with the lighting of the lamp by the chief guests followed by felicitation with shawls and mementoes. Then, the girls team of Pallavi Model School, Boduppal performed a crisp march past holding the tri colour followed by the participating teams in the championship.
There were participants from all over the country. To name a few, Delhi, CBSE-Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Assam, Gujarat, Karnataka, Jharkhand, Manipur and the hosting team, Telangana. The event was declared open by Komaraiah followed by oath taking by all the participating teams.
Speaking on the occasion, Sharma and Jayaprada Bai opined that students were participating enthusiastically and proving their calibre at various levels. They emphasised on motivating and moulding such students who could win laurels to the nation.
The Chairman, in his address mentioned that apart from cricket, Kabaddi also is gaining prominence these days and this should slowly creep into all other sports and games. He encouraged the students to take part actively in various physical activities. Later, the students of Pallavi Model School, Boduppal added gaiety to the event with handful of inspirational performances.
