Model Market at Mallapur ready
Mallapur: To meet the shopping needs of over one lakh residents of Mallapur, the officials of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) have constructed Model market at Balanagar of Mallapur.
Yadagiri Rao, Deputy Commissioner of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Uppal Circle told The Hans India, “The complete cost of the project is about Rs 50 lakh. We have constructed about 15 rooms in the building.”
He further added, “We are planning to have all kinds of items in the Model market like vegetables, clothing etc., that will fulfill the requirements of people at economical prices when compared to the market rates. The market can be easily accessible to all the sections of people.”
When asked about the allotments of rooms in the building for Model market, Yadagiri Rao said, “The rooms of the building would be auctioned and would be handed over accordingly.
We will also ensure that the rooms are handed over to the local people and not allow any outsiders to either participate in the auction or be a part of it in any way. This decision has been taken to ensure that the economy of area grows and also help to generate employment in this division.”
“After the rooms are handed over to the concerned people, the shop owners will have to pay monthly maintenance to the GHMC authorities”, he said.The Model market would have tight security system, which would monitor every movement of the shopkeepers in the building and track the visiting of the customers.
When asked about the opening of the Model market, Yadagiri Rao said, “It will take about five months to start. We have issued notice to all the nearby shop owners if they would be interested to have their market in the building, they can approach us. Once when we receive sufficient number of applications from the people, we would fix the date for auction, post which the rooms would be handed over to the people which would involve time.”
