Kukatpally: When it comes to getting things ‘done’ at the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) in Housing Board Colony, Kukatpally, it is the brokers who can accomplish the task. One going by the rule book will remain stagnant despite running from pillar to post.  In the past, an Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) raided on this RTA office, caught eight brokers red-handed.

However, things have remained same and it is back to the old routine.Whenever, someone wants to have a license all that the individual has to do it get in touch with a broker. Given that most such individuals will be hard-pressed for time, there has been a spurt in the numbers of brokers.

P Hari (name changed), who came for his license, pointed out, ‘I approached the broker because I do not have time to come to the office again and again. No sooner I submit my documents to the broker he will complete all the formalities.

It makes my work easier.”Another man who came for his license said, “I do not want to spend money and pay the broker rather, I will wait and complete the formalities through online. “

One of the broker at Kukatpally said, “There are around 20 to 25 brokers in the city, we charge Rs 3,500 and if they get through online it costs Rs 2,000 for a two-wheeler. The costs are proportionate when it comes to four-wheelers.“ Repeated attempts to contact RTA official went in vain.
