Corporator takes up padayatra

 Uppal: Uppal Corporator M Anala Reddy undertook a padayatra at Devendar Nagar colony here on Sunday. The main objective of the padyatra was to look into the problems that have been troubling 2500 residents of the area for a long time.

The main problems outlined by the residents included drainage issues and insufficient water supply in the areas. Speaking to The Hans India, Aanala reddy said, “The drainage problems has been persistent. Though it is cleaned up within a span of six months to one year it gets jammed up again. Due to which it starts overflowing on the roads, and mosquito problems have been growing due to this overflowing drainage.

And the second problem which has been reported by the residents here is the insufficient water supply.”She further added, “We are planning to seek a permanent solution to the residents’ problems in the area. After padayatra, action plan would be prepared and proposal will be put forth for development works.

” When asked about how much time it would take to complete the work, Anala Reddy said, “If everything goes well, I think six months is good enough time to complete all the works. There have been encroachments upon the drainage pipes, we are going to identify the encroachments and send the notice to them.”

“I have instructed the sanitation team to look into the cleanliness of place and have asked them to visit the place regularly, to ensure that there are no complaints from the people on this front. We have started laying new water line for drinking water and the works are likely to conclude soon.”  

The corporator said that she would be undertaking padayatra at regular intervals in different colonies and areas of Uppal and ensure that the people’s problems of Uppal are solved as soon as possible.

Anala Reddy started the padayatra about 7.30 am and people who participated included Uppal Greater Municipal Corporation Yadagiri Rao and Engineering section in-charge Rajaiah.
