SCRMU demands scrapping of new pension scheme

 Rail Nilayam: A large number of railway employees staged a dharna opposite the South Central Railway (SCR) headquarters-Rail Nilayam here on Wednesday demanding the scrapping of the New Pension Scheme (NPS)

Shiva Gopal Mishra,  general secretary, All India Railwaymen’s Federation lambasted the Government of India for going slow on its promise of reviewing  the NPS. The demand  to scrap the NPS was one of the main by the Central Govt employees last year. A three member ministers committee headed by the Home Minister Rajnath Singh but there has been no progress.

He stated that the AIRF had called for massive March to parliament on the issue on 13th March 2018. He warned of serious consequences , if the matter of guaranteed pension was not settled soon. The Railways will come to standstill, if the NPS is notwithdrawn , he warned.

Ch SankaraRao , general secretary of the SCR Mazdoor Union called upon the young employees  to be ready for any action programme called by the Union. K.Srinivas presided over the meeting.  He further added that the employees savings cannot be depended on the whims of the sghare market and that there is no guarentee of returns.
