Town & Country Planner’s Congress from Feb 2

Hyderabad: Institute of Town Planners, India (ITPI), the apex body of qualified professional town and country planners in the country is organising the 66th National Town and Country Planner’s Congress from February 2 to 4 at Taj Krishna, Banjara Hills.

The conference is based on the theme of “Urban Environmental Planning: Consequences and Challenges” with focus on Environmental Challenges of Urbanisation, Environment and Development Plans and Urban Flooding (Local Sub-Theme).

Chief Minister of Telangana K Chandrashekar Rao and Minister for IT K Taraka Rama Rao along with Mayor Bonthu Rammohan will inaugurate the Congress and address the delegates.
Prof. Dr. D.S. Meshram, President of Emiratus ITPI, said “In India more than half of the population is expected to live in urban areas by 2050, due to increase in level of urbanisation from 31 percent in 2011, to over 50 percent by 2050, which will open up opportunities as well as challenges for the country. 

As India is urbanising fast, serious environmental issues have taken the centre stage in planning and governance discourses. The 66th Congress aims at creating a platform to deliberate and identify sustainable solutions to these issues. The Congress will also focus on the most important issues of “urban flooding” which can strike anywhere without warning, occur when a large volume of rainfall is experienced within a short time period”.

Chairman ITPI, Telangana S. Devendar Reddy said “After 17 years we are again meeting at Hyderabad to deliberate at the 66th National Town and Country Planners Congress on the present day challenges facing.”
