The unsung saga of devotion
Ramanthapur: A local youth organisation of Ramanthapur have proved that apart from being responsible members of the society can also bat for spiritual happenings around us. For the last 13 years, the members of the youth organisation has not only been maintaining the temple but also conducting all the festivals with great pomp every year, by bearing all the expenses on their own.
S Venkat, leader of Sri Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Yuva Jagruti Samiti told The Hans India, “The temple that was constructed was that of Sri Panduranga Swamy. The statue of this god was at Satyanarayana temple, which is half a kilometer away from here and is 40-years-old statue.”
“Every Sravan masam, we used to conduct keertans for panduranga swamy starting from 6 am to 9 am where we used to have recitation of holy slokas of the lord. Then there were bajans of the lord from 9:30 pm to 1 am, in which many people from different colonies of the area used to participate.
Everything was going well, till a group of people who were a part of temple management started revolting against this practice. The confrontation became so severe that people almost came down to the level of causing harm to each other” added S Venkat.
Narrating the incidents, S Venkat said, “Seeing these on a daily basis, our team called in for a meeting and then we took a unanimous decision of establishing a separate temple for Panduranga Swamy 13 years back.”
All the members pooled in money from their personal savings and were able to collect an amount of Rs 10 lakhs for the construction of separate temple for Panduranga Swamy.
The dream of having a separate temple of the lord became a reality for the devotees in the year 2004. Since then, the devotees have been in the service of Panduranga Swamy and have been welcoming everybody with open hearts into the temple for darshanam.
